Matt Scharf
President

Matt has been building something nearly all his life, starting beside his father, who was a master carpenter. With his engineering degree, Matthew worked in construction and as an in-office engineer in upstate New York before relocating to Chapel Hill, NC in 1999. There he worked as an on-site construction superintendent for a commercial construction company and as a project manager for the energy company hired to manage residential construction at Meadowmont Village. After re-locating to the Southeastern Coast, he founded his first construction company, True North Building Company, which he still owns. 15 years later, he founded Blue Heron Custom Homes. He has been named as one of the top builders in the area and has won multiple awards for his homes. He has served in all positions of the local Home Builders Association. His last 19 years have been spent building homes in Southport, NC.
Elisabeth Scharf
Finance Manager/Design Selection
Elisabeth will work one on one with you to fully understand your vision. Her goal is to help you incorporate style and personality into your home all while staying within the budget. She is heavily involved in making sure Blue Heron customer relations are the best they can be while also managing the office. Before joining the Blue Heron Team, Elisabeth had many years of experience as a Realtor, Property Manager and Mortgage Broker. She can connect you with the right professionals in Real Estate if you need to purchase your dream lot as well as recommend a Mortgage Lender to help with financing your build. Elisabeth grew up in Chapel Hill, North Carolina and is an Air Force Veteran.
Raina Kor
Design Liaison

Originally from New York, Raina recently moved to The Carolinas and joined the team.
Raina’s focus on design has always been at the core of her work. Through her experiences at FIT (Fashion Institute of Technology) and New York School of Interior Design, Raina developed a strong sense of cohesion, style and systematic thinking. As a public school teacher and administrator, Raina led the work of instructional design again using design principles to create environments that reflect balance, proportion, variety and unity. With strong communication skills and attention to detail, Raina supports both clients and vendors during the design and build process.
